Hair & Beauty supplies haul

Hey, Hope everyones well!
Yesterday my local beauty suppliers were having a VAT free day, so I thought I'd pop along and get myself a few things a little cheaper than normal :)

here's what I picked up:

As you see I didn't go too crazy with the VAT offer but I did pick up a few good finds.

I got these purederm patches and strips, the nose strips I've seen in Boots & Superdrug and a few other places all by a few different brands but I've never seen these spot reducer patches before so thought I'd give them a try. - I'll update you :) Has anyone else tryed these?

I also picked up these individual lashes for the outer corners as adding lashes to the outer corners really opens up the eye and looks a little more natural than full lashes. I chose these in black and long.

I also decided I needed this Macadamia comb, I know your thinking it's just a comb why on earth are you blogging about a comb! but! this comb is infused with Macadamia oil and that's why I decided I wanted/needed this comb in my life. I have no idea if it works as of yet but I'm sure I'll blog about it if it's any good! :) no life changing comb or anything no doubt but you never know :P

This Toner has been on my list for a while and I finally remembered to pick it up. I've heard a lot of good things about it. It contains Mulberry & Pomegranate which claims to leaves the skin looking fresh, supple and energised everything I want from a toner.

And the final thing, is what I'm most excited to try! L'oreal - Mythic Oil I first saw this in the Beauty Supply booklet a few months back and was intrigued to try it then but I got distracted by the VO5 miracle concentrate and whilst that is still a favourite of mine I saw this and thought I'd give it a go. It might be good to compare the two as well. You get 125ml which is amazing as the box directs you to use 1 to 2 pumps so the bottle should last a while. It smells similar to the VO5 fruity and fresh.

The O.P.I nail polish pictured at the top of my post is the only item I've left out..this is because it looks darker in the photo than it really is, so I'm going to photograph it later and post it when its on the nails for a true colour match :) but if your interested now the colour is: It's all Greek to me'

Have you tryed any of these products? Or if you'd like me to review anything just ask :)

New things

Hi everyone, I picked up a few new things and thought I'd share them :)

I wasn't planning on buying anything from Top shop makeup line, but I couldn't help myself when I saw this blush/bronzer duo. It's perfect for my makeup bag because not only is it two products in one it also has a decent size mirror to the compact and its pretty :)

Shade: 'Burning Embers'
Hopefully you can see from the larger photo that the blush is a lovely pinky-peach..similar to Nar's Deep Throat. And the bronze is a light brown very soft and flattering.

Next up a tube of 'Lanolips' the 101 version and also the reason for my shopping trip. I'd read reviews and seen a couple of YouTube videos about this stuff..and it sounded amazing, so I had to pick a tube up for myself and see.. first impressions are good its very thick balm type consistency and very shiny on the lips. It claims to soothe and heel 101 different things from dry lips to burns and stings. - I'll update you on this once I've tryed it for a few weeks. :)

My next time was a sample of the Chanel Inimitable intense mascara in Noir, again I wasn't intending to get this but I'm glad I did :) the kind lady at the Chanel counter in Boots gave it to me with my purchase of a lovely little lipstick a 'Rouge coco shine' in the shade: Boy
As you can see the wand is plastic and looks similar to the one by Max Factor - False lash effect. - again I'll update you on what I think.

And finally the lipstick :) I'm so happy to have this, it's been on my wish list for a while but I've kept putting off getting it because it's expensive for one little lipstick..but I gave in and know I have it and even the smell of it makes me smile haha- btw it smells lovely! a slight hint of floral but nothing over powering.
The shade boy is a netural pink and very shiny - perfect for the daytime

What have you been buying this weekend? let me know in the comments :)

Things I've loved the most in August

I haven't loved too many new things this month, but the things I have been using all seem to be things that I will continue to love!

My first favourite isn't actually makeup related and so I thought I'd start with that first, it's the new album from Charlie Simpson - Young Pilgrim and it's brilliant! every song is the work of a very talented man!! I love every song but my favs are Parachutes, Cemetery, Farmer & his gun and If I lose it. I was so excited when I heard he was doing a solo album and I new it was going to be something special.. and he didn't disappoint! I defiantly recommend you have a listen :)

So back to makeup! I'll start with foundation, one of my fav things to buy and probably why I have so many of them, but this months fav as been Cliniques Even Better Foundation with SPF 15 my shade is 03 ivory but I must say.. it is getting a little too dark now I'm losing my slight tan. The consistency seems pretty thick when its placed onto the skin, but once it's blended out it doesn't feel heavy or thick on the skin at all. It covers everything I want it too, and of course as the name suggests 'even better' it evens out the skin beautifully. I'd say its medium coverage but it's defiantly build able.

Sticking with face products, next up I have face powders, this three in one compact from Dior has been a great love of this month, and was even love at first sight :) this cute little compact is Dior's ' Natural glow sculpting powder makeup. Which also contains an SPF of 10 my shade is this is - 020 Beige Praline. I love this not only is the powder soft and silky on the skin it also evens out the skin and add's a slight glow to the skin which is lovely, the slightly pinkie shade is perfect as a blush or what it's meant for is 'sculpting the face' so you can use it as a contour too, which looks very natural and a lot less harsh on pale complexions such as mine :) and the third shimmery shade is a light highlight colour which also brings a lovely glow to the skin making it look polished and perfect without looking greasy.

Next up for the eyes I have two mascara's, ones Avon Super shock in waterproof and the other is cliniques bottom lash mascara both brilliant for different reasons, the Avon one is fantastic at lengthening and adding volume to my lashes, and the clinique bottom lash is lovely for the bottom lashes as the brush is so small it catches every single lash no matter how small. Both are in black.

My last fav has been the Korres lip butter in Quince as it adds some colour but keeps my lips soft and moisturised at the same time, I've used this everyday since I got it at the end of July and it's love. I'm also interested in some of the other shades as they feel so lovely on the lips.

A new fav :)

I first saw this nail polish on Swalkermakeup's channel on Youtube and new I had to have it! Its a red..but not too red like some of the ones I have.

The shades: Ruby Gem
This is two coats to get the same colour in the bottle.

The perfect trio :)

Wondering around Superdrug today I came across this little eyeshadow trio from the range 'Famous' by Sue Moxley. As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the 'nude' shades in the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

This one is called 'Mocha latte'
None of the shades are exact dupes for the shades in the Naked Palette buut! the first shimmery white shade is very similar to virgin from the NP the middle shade is similar to sidecar only slightly lighter and the last shade is a lighter version of Hustle. So it could be a nice (smaller) alternative to the shades in the NP. But that aside.. they are really nice wearable shades and I think its nice that it's a smaller pallete as you can grab it quickly in the morning, and you have all three shades you need for the perfect eyeshadow :)

The middle shade hasn't shown up all that well, but it does look pretty once its on the eyes :)

A few recent finds...

Just thought i'd share a few recent things i've bought, and an 'inspired' outfit :)

I got this necklace a few days ago, it's not my usual taste but for some reason I thought this could really make a simple outfit look a little more 'put together' what do you think?
It's from Dorothy Perkins and it was in the sale for £5

I think the necklace goes nicely with the top..but it might be a little too the same...let me know what you think :)

Next I went into Primark to have a look at there summer sandals..but come out with flip-flops as I couldn't find my size in any of the pretty sandals. These are a size 4 and I think they were around £6.

They are actually really comfy so for £6 you can't really go wrong...perfect for a summer holiday!

Here is my finished outfit with the new necklace and flip-flops..
  • The top is from Primark - £8
  • Sunglasses are also Primark - £1
  • Bag is Primark..-£11
  • The scarf on the bag is H&M around £3 or £4 I think
  • Shorts & Flip-flops Primark :)
What are your summer finds?

Money may not grow on tree's but this apple serum sure did!

Optimum Swiss Apple overnight skin renewal serum

So we all know that apples are good for you :) an apple a day keeps the doctor away :P or so I've been told. So when I heard about this serum I was pretty darn excited to try it! mind you it has been available since October last year but I've finally got my hands on it!

I've been using it now for around a month and so I thought I'd let you all know what I thought in case anyone else was intrigued by its claims!
The best time for your skin to renew is between 12am and 4pm and at this time your skin will try its best to use all the lovely things you put on your skin before going to bed. So what does it actually do?! if someone had asked me this on week 1 of using this I'd of told them nothing!

However now..a little over week 4 my skin has defiantly improved in the overall tone of my skin, its a lot more even and soft. The apples within the serum help to brighten the skin, so you look fresher when you wake up. (sleeping beauty obviously had a secret stash of Swiss apples.)

It claims to reduce fine lines too but only being 21 I can't say about these effects, but good to know anyway.

Overall a very nice night serum! and smells faintly of apples... would you believe?! it has a pump that dispenses just the right amount of product which I like. I picked up mine from Superdrug for around £15 I believe. What are your thoughts? I'd love to know :)

Soap & Glory - Hocus Focus

Thought I'd share my opinions on Soap & glory's Hocus Focus
First off what can I say other than I love this product! it's a light formulation and has an iridescent look to it when applied to the skin which is really pretty as a cheek highlight or works beautifully when mixed with your liquid foundation which is what I've been using it for. It adds a lovely dewy finish to my normally matte foundation, which lately I've been loving. An added bonus to this lovely little find is the smell, as with all soap & glory products it smells floral but not heavy at all. Apparently it's very similar to Miss Dior Cherie.

Inside this little glass bottle you get 30ml of product which is a good amount for the price, I believe its around £12 in boots and a little goes a long way.

This was half a pump on the back of my arm and blended out slightly. Unfortunately my camera doesn't tend to like close up photos so sorry its not a very good representation. But hopefully you can see the shimmer it gives :)

All in all I love this product and think its the perfect summer glow in a bottle. Have you tryed this product? what do you think? feel free to comment :)

Too Faced- Look of Love collection review

I wasn't totally sure what i wanted my first blog post to be about, so i thought I'd just start with a review.

As you've probably already guessed from the title this ones going to be  or the new Too Faced collection "look of love" I saw this gorgeous little set on Asos.com and just had to get it. In the set you get a full sized shadow insurance (I was most excited about this as I've been meaning to try it for ages) and this little gem didn't let me down, it exceeded all my expectations it makes my eyeshadow last much longer than the Urban Decay primer potion and of course the tube is a lot easier to get the product out.

You also get the full size of there Lash injection mascara in Black which is a nice addition to the set but I didn't feel like it did much for my lashes, and I did notice some flakes of the mascara down my face after about 6 hours wear, so that's something to keep in mind and the brush is huge so I wasn't a big fan.

However the Glamour Gloss lip gloss in the shade Barely Legal which is a lovely milky pink is defiantly my cup of tea. Too Faced describes this as being there 'comfort plump' lip gloss as when you apply it you do get a slight tingly feeling but nothing dramatic or painful as some plumping lip glosses can be.

Primed & Poreless is another little must have addition I say little as this is the only product that isn't full size. You get 5g of product which is just enough to make you hooked on the stuff. It glides onto the skin so smoothly and instantly makes your face feel super soft and ready for foundation or powder. They say you can use it alone but I personally didn't find it to do anything alone, only make my skin feel softer and for £22 for the full 35ml tube I'd want to see the results! However as a foundation primer I would recommend this it made my foundation (Nars sheer glow) stay on a lot longer than it normally would which is about 5/6hours before it needs a touch up. And with the primer it was a good 8 or 9 hours before I reached for the bottle (of foundation that is..I didn't turn to drink over my foundation melting off my face) :)

Next up is the eye shadow and blush compact, I was both impressed and disappointed with this product. I love the eye shadows and as soon as I swatches them I wondered why I hadn't heard much about Too Faced shadows and instantly wanted more. The two shades you get are Silk Teddy and Totally Toasted. Silk Teddy is a beautiful shimmery light gold and looks lovely with Sin from Urban Decay. Where as Totally Toasted is very similar to Toasted by Urban Decay the only difference being Totally Toasted may be a little more golden. But both shades are lovely, and look super pretty together, there very soft shadows and really easy to blend. A must have if you ask me.

However..back to the disappointed part, you've probably guessed it, the blush the shade it comes with is La Vie en Rose and yes it is a rose colour with some gold shimmer and yes it is very pretty however it doesnt last very well on the skin and doesn't really compliment my fair skin (NW15 in Mac) but as always it may be perfect for you! :)

[Top left is: Silk teddy]
[Bottom left is: Totally Toasted]

Also just thought i'd add..the packaging for this collection is gorgeous as shown on the compact and the make-up bag.
This brings me on to the two final products, one being the makeup bag that comes with it, again this was another reason for be buying the collection. (I'm a sucker for cute packaging! The bag is about 9cm long and 5cm high so its a good size and everything you get in the collection fits in there nicely with room for other handbag essentails! and finally the last item is a mini kabuki brush its very cute and i guess intended for use with the blush, its very soft but its very bendy so not ideal for the blush as it needs a lot of blending! but again a very nice attention to the collection, and super handy to fit into the makeup bag for application emergancys!

So final thoughts: I think this is a great little set for the price, its £32 from Asos and Boots as part of there 3 of 2 at the moment and seeing as the full size shadow insurance alone is £11 the lip gloss is £15 and the Mascara is £14 thats £40 for just the three items. So a good buy in my opinion and a must have for any Too Faced fans out there.

Sorry this is soo long! I promise not all my reviews and things will be this long! Thank you so much for reading! :) xox
